The women portrayed by Iside Pellegrino Preite captivate us with their physical intensity — it feels as though we are witnessing, without permission, an intimate scene meant only for the photographer’s eyes. As Helmut Newton once said, every photographer is a curious observer who “spends their life looking through a keyhole,” seeking to imagine different, often private, realities. In the same way, Iside’s shots tell stories of women who freely and proudly display their most reserved sensuality.
Nothing is left to chance: each photograph is the result of careful, meticulous preparation of the scene, composition, and perspective. This process can take months, during which every detail is thoughtfully examined and refined with the collaboration of professionals such as stylists, makeup artists, and accessory designers. Once on set, the artist lets herself be guided by creativity and the personality of the model, capturing even the smallest elements that catch her eye: “from the delicate flow of fabric over damp skin, to a detail of the body, a facial expression, or a feature of a dress or accessory.”
Her goal is to capture the authentic essence of "her" women — their pure instinct, free from social constraints. This intention translates into images with fluid, dynamic forms, evoking the work of artists admired by the photographer, especially British painter Jack Vettriano (1951), known for his ability to construct an architecture of form and color through a precise study of poses. Similarly, Iside composes her scenes with precision, turning bodies into harmonious lines that give life to images that are simultaneously pop, surreal, and erotic.
Iside Pellegrino Preite plays with the ambivalent nature of photography — a medium that can objectively represent reality while also creating a subjective and fictional world. Her photographs exist exactly at the intersection between reality and imagination: they reveal certain truths while suggesting others as illusions.
In her work, art, fashion, and photography are uniquely intertwined — different perspectives of the same visual culture. What unites them is the pursuit of iconicity, the representation of the new and the unexpected, something that endures as a reference in the collective imagination. Through this lens, Iside Pellegrino’s photographs seek to narrate both the inner and outer worlds of the feminine universe through deeply contemporary images.
